Uhh, so technical questions really because I like extra info. So basically my question is, how do the zombies sense people?
Because there's usually a difference for movies, videogames, manga and stuff like that. Like, do they still have their eyesight, because I remember in one the zombies didn't have eyesight so the protagonists could slip out when they threw a shoe somewhere else. Can the zombies smell live humans, or is it really of meat that attracts them? How good is their hearing and stuff like that? Top speed? Reaction time?
Derpderpderp.

Currently, here's two different types of zombies here. If you've ever read Feed, they are a bit like the zombies there. If you haven't, basically the fast zombies can run as fast as people and are more like wolves than humans in the sense that they work together to take down prey. They can smell and see better than a normal person, plus their hearing is very good, making them hard to escape from. They tend to lead the hordes, because they are smarter and more cunning than the slower, more decayed ones. These generally also look the least infected, because they are generally newly turned withing a few months (The decay process varies based on location. It would be faster here in Las Vegas than, say, Alaska).
Do I make sense yet? (Another good example is The Forest Of Hands And Teeth. The girl in the red jacket would be one of the faster ones, while I'm pretty sure the older infected in that one tend to be slower. I don't remember them, just the girl in the red jacket being lightning speed. Our zombies here are not quite that fast.) The other thing is, they are incredibly strong and if they happen to catch you, you're fucked. That being said, if they were bitten, the area around the bite would be the most brittle part as it is the source of infection and the most decayed part. So if you're looking to flee, it's probably best to aim there to distract them, then shoot them in the head once you're free. That is, if you're lucky enough to get that far.
The slow ones have been infected longer and therefore deemed 'older zombies' by most. These ones usually look more like corpses than the faster ones. Their skin is starting to fall off, they slowly start to lose their heightened senses. They shuffle around more aimlessly, and usually are only a problem in numbers.
That is because there is something about this virus that seems to make large number of zombies become like pack animals. Even the slow ones become a threat, because they move faster and become more vicious. It would appear almost as if these monsters had a brain and worked together. (If you've ever seen I Am Legend, it's a bit like that, in a sense).
Lastly, they eat any kind of meat. Animals that are bitten, as far as we know, do not become infected. But the virus is constantly mutating in order to survive. For all we know, one day a headshot might now do any good. But we won't think about that now, will we, Erik?
